Formulas: contribution per unit = price − variable cost. Contribution margin = contribution ÷ price × 100. Break-even units = (fixed costs + target profit) ÷ contribution per unit, rounded up to a whole unit. Break-even revenue = (fixed costs + target profit) ÷ contribution margin ratio. Fixed costs are ones that stay the same however much you sell, such as rent, salaries and software; variable costs rise with each unit, such as materials, packaging and payment fees.

This is the standard cost-volume-profit model. It assumes one price, a steady cost per unit and fixed costs that don't change, and it leaves out tax. Real results can differ. It is an estimate for information only, not financial, accounting or tax advice.
