Method
How these numbers are made.
Every number comes from the Best Productivity Resources directory, where each tool is checked by hand before it is listed. Pricing, platforms and type are recorded as they were when the tool was checked, and the page recalculates automatically whenever the directory changes.
"Free" means the tool is free to use; "free plan" means a paid tool with a usable free tier. A tool counts as AI when it is an AI tool or listed under AI Productivity, and as open source when its source is public or it is published on GitHub. Ratings are editor ratings out of 5.
The directory is curated, not a census of every tool on the market, so treat these as a picture of tools worth using rather than of the whole industry.
