What is Keka?

Keka is a macOS file archiver that compresses files when you drag them onto its window or Dock icon. It creates 7z, Zip, Tar, Gzip, DMG, ISO and other formats, extracts many more including RAR, can protect archives with AES-256 encryption for 7z files and splits big files into pieces. It is a free download from its website, and the paid Mac App Store version is the same app that supports development.

Pros: what Keka does well

  • Drag and drop to compress
  • Password-protected encrypted archives
  • Splits large files into smaller parts

Cons: where it falls short

  • Mac only
  • Zip files get weaker legacy encryption than 7z

Who Keka is for

Mac users who want to create, encrypt or split archives easily.

Who can skip it
