The guide

Every section is a compact, self-contained card.

01

What AI can do for a podcast

Podcasting takes planning, recording, editing, publishing, and promotion. AI tools can now help at every step.

They can:

  • Brainstorm episode ideas
  • Research guests and topics
  • Write outlines and questions
  • Clean up noisy audio
  • Edit by editing a transcript
  • Find clip-worthy moments
  • Write show notes, titles, and chapters
  • Translate and dub episodes

AI makes production faster. Your voice, guests, and ideas still make the show.

Plan episodes

Use Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini to:

  • Generate episode ideas from listener questions
  • Plan a season around one theme
  • Find angles others have not covered
  • Write a working title and promise
  • Create a segment structure

Give me 20 episode ideas for a podcast about [topic] for [audience]. For each, give the listener’s question, a working title, and why it matters now.

04

Research guests and topics

  • Summarize a guest’s public work and interviews
  • Find questions they are rarely asked
  • Collect facts and sources for the topic
  • Prepare a one-page brief

NotebookLM is useful for research grounded in sources you upload. Verify every fact you plan to say on air.

05

Write the outline

  • A hook for the first 30 seconds
  • Three to five main segments
  • Open questions, not yes-or-no questions
  • Follow-up prompts
  • A clear ending and call to action

Outline, do not script word for word. Natural conversation sounds better.

06

Record with quality

  • Use a decent microphone in a quiet, soft room
  • Record each person on a separate track
  • Use a recording platform such as Riverside for remote interviews with local tracks
  • Do a short sound check
  • Record a backup

AI can clean audio. It cannot fully fix a bad recording.

07

Clean up the audio

  • Adobe Podcast Enhance Speech for fast, free cleanup in the browser
  • Descript Studio Sound for cleanup inside your editor
  • Noise and echo removal
  • Loudness leveling to podcast standards

Do not over-process. Too much enhancement makes voices sound artificial.

08

Edit with a transcript

Tools such as Descript and Riverside let you edit audio and video by editing text:

  • Remove filler words
  • Cut long pauses
  • Delete off-topic tangents
  • Rearrange segments
  • Fix small mistakes

Listen to the final edit in full. Automatic cuts can remove meaning.

09

Create clips for social

  • Find the strongest standalone moments
  • Add captions
  • Reframe for vertical video
  • Write a strong first line
  • Link back to the full episode

Clip tools such as Opus Clip, Riverside, and Descript can suggest moments. Choose the final clips yourself.

10

Write show notes and chapters

From the transcript, ask AI to draft:

  • A clear episode title
  • A short description
  • Key takeaways
  • Chapters with timestamps
  • Links and resources mentioned
  • Guest bio

Check timestamps and links before publishing.

11

Repurpose each episode

  • A blog post
  • A newsletter
  • LinkedIn and X posts
  • Quote graphics
  • A short video summary

One episode should feed a week of content.

12

Translate and reach new audiences

AI dubbing and voice tools such as ElevenLabs can translate episodes into other languages, keeping a similar voice.

  • Get consent from every voice you clone or dub
  • Review translations with a fluent speaker
  • Tell listeners when audio is AI-generated
13

Use AI voices responsibly

  • Never clone a voice without explicit permission
  • Disclose AI-generated voices and hosts
  • Do not use AI to imitate real people
  • Check each platform’s rules on synthetic content
  • Keep your own voice at the center of the show
14

Grow your show

  • Write titles that match what people search
  • Publish full episodes on YouTube as well as audio platforms
  • Post clips consistently
  • Invite guests with their own audiences
  • Ask listeners for reviews and questions
  • Review analytics monthly

Master podcast prompt

Act as my podcast producer for a show about [topic] for [audience]. From this transcript, write: five title options, a 100-word description, key takeaways, chapters with timestamps, the five best clip moments with start and end times and why each works, and a newsletter summary. Use only what is in the transcript. Do not invent quotes or facts. Transcript: [paste here]

The golden rule

Do not use AI to replace the conversation. Use it to prepare better, edit faster, and share every episode further.

  • Plan
  • Research
  • Record
  • Clean
  • Edit
  • Clips
  • Notes
  • Grow

Start by using AI for show notes and clips on your next episode. Add more steps once that saves you time.
