What is LeechBlock NG?
LeechBlock NG is a free browser extension that blocks the websites that eat your time. Group sites into up to 30 block sets, each with its own rules: block them during fixed hours, allow only a few minutes per hour, or lock them down straight away for a set time. It runs in Firefox, Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers such as Brave, Opera and Vivaldi.
Pros
- Free and open source (MPL-2.0)
- Schedules, hourly time limits and instant lockdown
- Works in Firefox, Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers
Cons
- Blocks websites only, not desktop or phone apps
- Can be removed like any extension, so it still needs some self-control
Who should use LeechBlock NG
Anyone who loses hours to a handful of websites and wants a free blocker in the browser they already use.
Who may not need it
People whose distractions are phone apps or desktop programs rather than websites.
