What is Harness Terminal?

Harness Terminal is a free, open-source, GPU-rendered terminal for macOS. Sessions survive quitting the app, a scriptable CLI controls tabs and panes, and it detects coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor, then notifies you the moment one stops or asks for approval.

Third-party open-source projects. We are not affiliated with their authors; repositories are provided as-is by their maintainers. Review each project's license, code and security before installing. See our Disclaimer.

Pros

  • Sessions persist after you quit
  • Alerts when an agent is waiting
  • Free and open source

Cons

  • Apple silicon Macs on macOS 15 or later only
  • Many settings to explore
