What is Dust?

Dust (du + rust) is like the du command but more intuitive. It shows a tree of your biggest folders with bars for their share, with options like showing only a set depth or number of items. It installs with a quick script, Cargo or Homebrew on Linux, macOS and Windows.

Third-party open-source projects. We are not affiliated with their authors; repositories are provided as-is by their maintainers. Review each project's license, code and security before installing. See our Disclaimer.

Pros: what Dust does well

  • Easy-to-read folder tree with bars
  • Choose how many levels to show
  • Quick install

Cons: where it falls short

  • Terminal only
  • Shows usage but does not delete files
