What is Meta Muse?
Muse is Meta’s personal AI agent. Meta launched it on September 8, 2026, in the US, on iOS, Android, and the web. It runs on Muse Spark, Meta’s model for agentic work.
Unlike a normal chatbot, it can:
- Connect to your email and calendar
- Work in its own cloud browser
- Carry out multi-step tasks across sites and apps
- Draft and send messages with your approval
- Shop and book through connected partners
- Plan longer-term goals with you
Muse does tasks, not just answers. That is why it needs clear limits.
02
Plans and limits
- Free
- About 100 million Muse tokens a week
- Power
- $20 a month, about 500 million tokens a week
- Maximum
- $100 a month, about 3 billion tokens a week
Long, multi-step tasks use far more tokens than chat. Check current plans and availability in the app, because they can change.
03
How Muse keeps actions in check
- Secure VM
- A dedicated cloud computer with its own browser, where your agent and connected sign-ins live. Meta says each user gets a separate virtual machine.
- Sentinel
- A separate agent, kept apart from your Muse, that approves connector actions and network access before they happen, and asks you about sensitive ones.
- Live view
- You can watch the browser while Muse works.
Approvals only protect you if you read them before you tap yes.
04
Set up your agent
- Choose its name, avatar, and communication style
- Tell it who you are and what you want help with
- Set your preferences: budget limits, brands, times, and tone
- Connect only the accounts a task needs
- Review your privacy settings before the first task
Start with one low-risk task, such as planning a week of meals, before giving it anything involving money.
05
Connect your tools carefully
Muse connects to email and calendar, plus partners including:
- Payments: Stripe, Shop Pay, and PayPal
- Shopping: Shopify stores, Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart, and Wayfair
- Travel and groceries: Expedia and Instacart
- Work: GitHub, Granola, and Notion
Every connection widens what Muse can see and do. Connect for a reason, and disconnect what you stop using.
06
Run everyday errands
Ask it to:
- Compare products and prices
- Fill a grocery basket from a meal plan
- Find and hold restaurant or travel options
- Track deliveries and returns
- Fill out routine forms
- Remind you of renewals and deadlines
Ask for options first, then approve the final purchase or booking yourself.
07
Manage email and calendar
- Summarize unread email by priority
- Draft replies in your tone
- Find times that work and propose meetings
- Turn email requests into tasks
- Prepare a daily agenda
Let Muse draft. Send only what you have read.
08
Plan bigger goals
Give Muse a goal and constraints:
- A trip with dates, budget, and must-sees
- A fitness or study plan with time limits
- A move or event with a checklist and deadlines
- A savings target with spending categories
Ask it to break the goal into weekly steps and check in on progress.
09
Use Muse for a small business
On September 29, 2026, Meta launched Muse for Small Business, free with usage limits and paid plans for more. It can connect to:
- Instagram professional account insights
- Facebook Pages and Meta ad accounts
- Shopify, Stripe, and Intuit QuickBooks
- Slack, Asana, Notion, Dropbox, and Box
- Canva, Figma, Klaviyo, HighLevel, Lovable, Granola, and Zoom
Use it to answer common customer questions, draft posts in your brand voice, summarize sales, and prepare campaign ideas. Approve anything public or financial yourself.
10
What is coming next
At Meta Connect on September 23, 2026, Meta announced:
- Video chats with a real-time Muse avatar
- Muse controlling apps on a Mac
- Its own email address for forwarded threads
- Muse on Meta’s smart glasses with a wake word
Some of these were announced for the coming months. Check what is live in your app.
11
Write tasks Muse can finish
A good task includes:
- The goal
- The budget or limits
- Your preferences
- Which accounts it may use
- What it must ask before doing
- What done looks like
Find three hotels in Lisbon for October 20 to 23 under $180 a night, near public transport, with free cancellation. Do not book. Show me the options with links and the total cost.
12
Protect your privacy
- Turn off use of your chats for training if you prefer: Meta uses them by default
- Never share passwords or one-time codes in chat
- Keep health, legal, and financial details to what a task needs
- Review connected accounts every month
- Delete conversations you no longer need
13
Know its limits
- Some sites block AI agents. Amazon blocked Muse in September 2026
- Prices and availability can change between search and checkout
- Agents can misread pages and forms
- Long tasks use your weekly limit quickly
- Muse can make mistakes, so check important results
14
Prompts to try
- “Summarize my unread email and draft replies to the three most urgent.”
- “Plan dinners for this week under $80 and fill an Instacart basket. Do not check out.”
- “Find a time next week for a 30-minute call with Sam and draft the invite.”
- “Compare these three laptops on price, battery, and weight.”
- “Make a weekly plan to prepare for my driving test in six weeks.”
- “List my subscriptions from email receipts and show renewal dates.”
- “Draft three Instagram captions for this product in my brand voice.”
- “Summarize last week’s sales and suggest one thing to try.”
- “Find refundable flights to Chicago for these dates and hold nothing.”
- “Tell me what you would need from me to finish this task.”
15
What Muse handles and what you handle
- Muse handles
- Searching, comparing, drafting, scheduling, filling forms, tracking, and reminding.
- You handle
- Approving payments, sending important messages, sharing sensitive data, and final decisions.
16
Master Muse prompt
You are my personal assistant for [area of life or business].
My goal: [goal]. My limits: [budget, time, brands, places].
You may use: [connected accounts]. You may not use: [accounts or data].
Work step by step. Show me options before acting.
Always ask before you buy, book, send, post, delete, or share personal data.
When you finish, summarize what you did, what it cost, and what still needs my decision.
The golden rule
Do not hand Muse your whole life. Give it one clear task, clear limits, and keep the final yes for yourself.
- Goal
- Limits
- Connect
- Approve
- Verify
- Privacy
Start with one errand this week. Add more only when you trust how it works.
