01

What is Claude Dashboards?

Claude Dashboards is a beta feature Anthropic launched on October 8, 2026. You ask a question about your business data in plain language, and Claude builds a live dashboard that keeps updating.

Unlike a static chart, it can:

  • Connect to your data warehouse and business systems
  • Turn a question into charts and tables
  • Refresh as new data arrives
  • Show the query behind every number
  • Explain how each chart was calculated
  • Send results to your analytics tools

Ask a business question. Get a live answer you can check.

03

Supported data sources

  • Google BigQuery
  • Snowflake
  • Databricks
  • Amazon Redshift
  • ClickHouse
  • Salesforce and other business connectors

Connect only the data a dashboard needs, with read-only access where possible.

04

Build your first dashboard

  • Connect a data source
  • Ask one clear business question
  • Review the charts Claude proposes
  • Open each chart and check its query
  • Ask for changes in plain language
  • Save it and let it refresh

Build a dashboard of weekly revenue by product for the last 12 weeks from our Snowflake sales table. Add a chart of new versus returning customers and show the refresh time on each chart.

05

Check every number

Each chart has its own SQL query and shows when it last refreshed. Before you trust a dashboard:

  • Open the query behind key numbers
  • Ask Claude to explain the logic in plain language
  • Compare one number with a report you already trust
  • Check date ranges, filters, and time zones
  • Check how refunds, test data, and duplicates are handled

A dashboard is only as good as its definitions.

06

Keep it live

Dashboards update as the underlying data changes, and each chart shows its refresh time. If a number looks stale, check the refresh time and the data source before acting.

07

Send results to your tools

Available
Amplitude, Grafana, and Hex
Coming soon
Looker, monday.com, and Tableau

Use Claude Dashboards for quick exploration and answers. Keep official reporting in your main BI tool if your company has one.

08

Good dashboard questions

  • “Which products grew fastest this quarter?”
  • “Where do customers drop off in our signup funnel?”
  • “How has average order value changed by region?”
  • “Which sales reps have the most stalled deals?”
  • “What is our monthly churn by plan?”
  • “Which marketing channels bring customers who stay?”
09

Write precise prompts

  • Name the table or data source
  • Define the metric exactly
  • Set the time range
  • Choose the breakdown, such as by region or product
  • Say which chart types you want
  • Ask for definitions to be shown
10

Admin setup for teams

  • Decide which data sources teams may connect
  • Use service accounts with read-only permissions
  • Turn on Dashboards in Organization settings → Artifacts on Enterprise
  • Agree on standard metric definitions
  • Review who can see shared dashboards
11

Protect your data

  • Never connect with admin or write credentials
  • Limit access to the tables a team needs
  • Keep personal and sensitive data out unless approved
  • Follow your company’s data policies
  • Remove connections you no longer use
12

Know its limits

  • It is a beta feature and may change
  • Wrong definitions produce confident wrong charts
  • It is built for exploration, not as a full BI replacement
  • Results depend on the quality of your data
13

Master dashboard prompt

Build a live dashboard from [data source] to answer: [business question]. Metrics: [metric] defined as [exact definition]. Time range: [range]. Break down by [dimension]. Use clear chart titles, show the refresh time and query for every chart, and list any assumptions you made about the data. If a definition is unclear, ask me before building.

The golden rule

Do not trust a dashboard because it looks good. Trust it because you checked the query behind the number.

  • Connect
  • Ask
  • Build
  • Check
  • Refresh
  • Share

Start with one weekly question your team asks every Monday. Build that dashboard first.
