How this list was made
This guide uses the Arena text-to-image leaderboard, where people vote on images from two anonymous models. The snapshot is from October 7, 2026.
- Rankings change often as new models launch
- Some entries are marked preliminary until they collect enough votes
- Leaderboards measure preference, not every use case
- Test models on your own prompts before choosing
The best model is the one that wins on your own images.

Run your own test
Use the same five prompts in two or three models:
- A product photo
- A poster with text
- An edit of an existing image
- A consistent character in two scenes
- An infographic
Score each for accuracy, quality, text, and editing effort.
10
Use images responsibly
- Many providers add watermarks or Content Credentials to AI images
- Do not create misleading images of real people or events
- Respect trademarks and copyright
- Disclose AI images where platforms or laws require it
- Check commercial-use terms for each model
The golden rule
Do not chase the number one model every week. Pick the model that wins on your images, and learn to prompt it well.
