The directory additions from 13 October lean heavily towards design: motion and animation tools, UI component libraries and a large set of typography resources, plus two open-source tools for running AI on your own hardware. Features and pricing change, so check each tool's own page before you commit.

Local AI and smart cameras

colibri is a tiny inference engine, written in pure C with no dependencies, that runs very large open mixture-of-experts language models on ordinary hardware. It keeps the part of the model needed for each token in memory and streams the rest from disk, so models with hundreds of billions of parameters can run without a GPU. It supports open model families including GLM, Kimi, DeepSeek, Qwen and MiMo. You need at least 8 GB of RAM, streaming from disk is slower than a GPU, and the model files need plenty of free disk space. It is free under the Apache 2.0 licence.

Clearcam is open-source software that connects to ordinary security cameras over RTSP and adds object detection and tracking, mobile notifications and search across your footage. It is released under the GPL 3.0 licence and needs some technical setup. Check your local privacy laws before recording people.

Motion design and animation

Jitter is a web-based motion design tool for UI animations, social videos and animated logos, with real-time collaboration and exports to video, GIF and other formats. Lottielab is a web editor for creating and editing Lottie animations, the lightweight format used in websites and apps. SVGator lets you animate icons, logos and illustrations as SVGs without writing code. All three have free plans, and advanced exports and features need a paid plan.

Epic Easing is a small free tool for building easing, spring and bounce curves, previewing them and exporting the result to CSS, SCSS, Objective-C or Swift. It does one job and assumes some animation know-how.

UI components and inspiration

Kumo is Cloudflare's component library for web applications, free and open source under the MIT licence; it is styled around Cloudflare's own design language. mdxcn is a free, open-source set of MDX components for documentation and blogs, such as callouts, steps, terminal blocks, charts and timelines, which you copy in with the shadcn CLI. Blocks.so offers more than 60 free shadcn/ui blocks built with React, Tailwind CSS and Next.js. Both mdxcn and Blocks.so need a React and shadcn setup.

Minimalny is a curated gallery of minimal web design, including portfolios, agencies and studios, reviewed one by one since 2018. It is inspiration only, with no code.

Typography and fonts

Fontalog is a free font search engine from the makers of FontBase that lets you search millions of fonts by visual traits such as contrast, x-height, proportion and weight. It does not provide downloads, so check each font's licence with its owner. FontBase itself is a free desktop font manager for organising, previewing and activating fonts without installing them all, with quick access to Google Fonts; there is no Linux version.

For discovering typefaces, Open Foundry has showcased quality open-source fonts for more than a decade, and Free Faces gathers typefaces available under various free licences, linking to each original source. Licences vary, so read each one before use. FontBrief is a curated font discovery tool for branding and editorial work, free when you subscribe to its newsletter.

Fontmojo lets you type your own text and compare system, Google and free fonts side by side, and works best on desktop. Typescale is a free plugin for Figma, Adobe XD and Penpot that generates a modular type scale from a single line of text, ready to use as text styles in a design system.

These are only some of the tools added recently. Browse the full directory to filter by category, type, pricing and goal and find the right fit for your work.
