What is MarkItDown?
MarkItDown is a free, open-source tool from Microsoft that converts PDFs, Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, HTML, images and audio into Markdown. It keeps headings, lists, tables and links, so you can feed documents to AI tools or reuse their text without copying it by hand.
