Same name, different jobs. Know which Copilot you are using.

02

What the Copilot app can do

  • Chat, research, and write
  • Vision: talk about what is on your screen or camera during voice sessions
  • Copilot Notebooks to collect chats, files, and notes
  • Voice in the car through CarPlay on iPhone
  • Copilot Cowork: describe an outcome and let Copilot gather context and work across tools, with your approval

Features roll out by region and account type.

03

Copilot Chat at work

  • Included for all Microsoft 365 business users
  • Inbox and calendar awareness
  • Access to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint agents
  • Business data protection for work accounts
04

Agent Mode in Office apps

Agent Mode lets Copilot build and edit whole documents, workbooks, and presentations step by step from a request, checking its work as it goes. In Excel, you can choose between Anthropic and OpenAI models. Availability depends on your plan and admin settings.

05

Researcher and Analyst

Researcher
Deep research across the web and your work files, with citations
Analyst
Data analysis for spreadsheets and files, with charts and explanations
06

Copilot in each app

Word
Draft, rewrite, summarize, and review documents
Excel
Formulas, analysis, charts, and full workbooks
PowerPoint
Decks from documents, rewrites, and custom skills
Outlook
Summaries, drafts, and inbox triage
Teams
Meeting recaps, action items, and catch-ups
07

Plans and pricing

Microsoft sells business bundles with Copilot included, such as Business Standard with Copilot and Business Premium with Copilot, and Microsoft 365 consumer plans include Copilot features with usage limits. Microsoft raised commercial suite prices from July 1, 2026. Check Microsoft’s pricing page for your country before buying.

08

Build your own agents

Copilot Studio lets you build agents that answer questions from your documents or automate tasks. Start with one narrow job, test it with real questions, and get IT approval at work.

09

Write good prompts

Goal
What you want
Context
Which files, emails, or meetings to use
Source
Point to specific documents
Expectations
Format, length, and tone

Using the Q3 report and last week’s team meeting, draft a one-page update for my manager with progress, risks, and next steps.

10

Privacy and safety

  • Use your work account for work data
  • Copilot only sees files you have permission to see
  • Follow your company’s AI policy
  • Check every output before sending or sharing

The golden rule

Do not treat Copilot as one tool. Use the right Copilot for the job, give it the right files, and check its work.

  • Copilot app
  • Copilot Chat
  • Microsoft 365
  • Agent Mode
  • Researcher
  • Studio
  • Privacy

Ask Copilot to recap your last meeting and draft the follow-up email this week.
