What is VSCodium?

VSCodium is a free, open-source build of Visual Studio Code for Windows, macOS and Linux with Microsoft's branding and telemetry removed. You get the same fast editor, terminal, Git tools and extension support through the Open VSX registry, so you can write code and notes in a familiar editor while keeping your usage data private.

Third-party open-source projects. We are not affiliated with their authors; repositories are provided as-is by their maintainers. Review each project's license, code and security before installing. See our Disclaimer.

Pros: what VSCodium does well

  • Same editor as VS Code
  • Telemetry switched off
  • Free and open source

Cons: where it falls short

  • Some Microsoft extensions are unavailable
  • Updates arrive a little after VS Code

Who VSCodium is for
