What is Fabric?

Fabric is a free, open-source framework that runs a library of tested AI prompts, called patterns, from your terminal. Pipe in an article, video transcript or meeting notes and get a summary, key ideas or action items back using the AI model of your choice, so routine reading and writing jobs take minutes.

Third-party open-source projects. We are not affiliated with their authors; repositories are provided as-is by their maintainers. Review each project's license, code and security before installing. See our Disclaimer.

Pros: what Fabric does well

  • Hundreds of ready-made prompts to reuse
  • Works with OpenAI, Claude, Ollama and more
  • Free and open source

Cons: where it falls short

  • Command line first
  • Needs your own AI model or API key
