01

What the plugins do

On October 27, 2026, OpenAI added iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar plugins to ChatGPT. For the first time, Apple users can let ChatGPT work with their iCloud email and calendar directly.

iCloud Mail
Search and read email, manage messages and drafts, send email, and look up iCloud contacts
iCloud Calendar
Read, create, and update events that show up on your iPhone and other Apple devices

Let ChatGPT handle the searching and drafting. Keep the sending and scheduling decisions yours.

02

Who can use them

  • Reported to be available on all ChatGPT plans, including free
  • On the web, desktop app, and iOS
  • Rolling out gradually, so you may not see them yet
03

Before you connect

  • Two-factor authentication must be on for your Apple Account
  • You need an @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com email for Mail
  • You will create an app-specific password, not share your main Apple password
04

How to connect

  • Sign in at account.apple.com yourself
  • Go to Sign-In and Security, then App-Specific Passwords, and create one for ChatGPT
  • In ChatGPT settings, open Plugins and choose iCloud Mail or iCloud Calendar
  • Enter the app-specific password when asked
  • Connect Mail and Calendar separately

Never share your main Apple Account password with any app or chat.

05

What it can and cannot reach

Can
Email stored in iCloud Mail, iCloud contacts, and iCloud calendars
Cannot
Gmail or Outlook accounts added to Apple Mail, unless you connect those services separately
06

Email prompts

  • “Summarize unread emails from this week by priority.”
  • “Find the email from my landlord about the lease and summarize it.”
  • “Draft a polite reply declining this invitation. Do not send.”
  • “List emails that are waiting for my reply.”
07

Calendar prompts

  • “What does my week look like?”
  • “Find two free hours for focus time on Thursday.”
  • “Create an event for the dentist on Friday at 3 pm.”
  • “Move my 2 pm call to tomorrow at the same time.”
08

With Dots

Pro subscribers can reportedly use the plugins with Dots, OpenAI’s personal agent, for multi-step tasks such as planning a trip from your emails and calendar.

09

Keep approvals on

  • Read every draft before ChatGPT sends it
  • Check event details before saving
  • Be careful with bulk actions on email
10

Privacy and security

  • Connect only if you are comfortable sharing that data with ChatGPT
  • Check your ChatGPT data and training settings
  • Watch for suspicious instructions hidden in emails
  • Revoke the app-specific password at account.apple.com if you stop using it
  • Disconnect the plugin in ChatGPT settings when not needed

The golden rule

Do not hand ChatGPT your whole inbox and calendar blindly. Connect with an app-specific password, start with read-only tasks, and approve every send and change.

  • Mail
  • Calendar
  • App password
  • Prompts
  • Dots
  • Approvals
  • Privacy

Connect iCloud Calendar first and ask ChatGPT to summarize your week before trying email.
